This is My first attempt to write this newsletter on line. I hope you will be patient with me as I learn.
April’s Meeting Highlights: We had a wonderful meeting this month which consisted of the Hurricane Valley SUP giving awards to area 4th grade students. Each year our chapter gives these young children the opportunity to learn about their heritage. They choose one of their ancestors, then research their lives. It is hoped that this will help them have an interest in their heritage.
The winners were invited with their parents, teachers and principals to attend this event, and it was very well attended. The food was great, and the essays were excellent. We would like to thank Wes Christiansen for all of his hard work in getting this into the schools. It is quite a process. The Winners were presented with a certificate of participation, $20.00 in one dollar coin, an SUP bronze medallion, and a brand new penny.
