May’s Event: Our meeting this last month was one of interest and education as Alan and Ann Nelson gave us a tour of
Poland and Auschwitz. The beauty of this country is marvelous, and in some cases staggering, but the remains of the hostilities of the Holocaust during World War Two were just about too mind numbing to imagine. The remains of the buildings that housed these atrocities were in stark contrast to the beauty surrounding them.
We would like to thank Alan and Ann so much for their time and presentation. The Power Point presentation they gave was very well put together, and much was learned.
The food, and company, were very enjoyable as usual. Thanks to all who supported us, and who provided such great food. We would like to also thank the American Legion for being able to use their hall.
June’s Trek:
This month, our meeting will consist of a trek from Hurricane to Cedar City, then on to Iron Town with Dr. Wayne Hinton. He will enlighten us on the settling and growth of Iron Town, Pinto, and finally Mountain Meadows. We are so grateful for his willingness to work with our chapter.
We will be meeting in Hurricane at the Zion’s Bank Parking lot at 8:45 a.m. We will leave at 9:00 a.m. for Cedar City, where we will pick up Dr. Hinton at the Albertson’s parking lot near 10:00 a.m. We will travel from there to Iron Town where there will be a presentation and viewing of the ruins. At 11:00 we will travel to Pinto where we will have lunch and a presentation of Pinto’s History. At 12:30 we will travel to Mountain Meadows. From 12:45 to 2:00 p.m. there will be a presentation on Mountain Meadows and we will be able to view the grounds. At 2:00 p.m., we will leave for our homes.
Please bring with you drinking water, and any snack you might want, however, and this is a change from the newsletter mailed out last month, the SUP will provide the lunch meal for everyone.

The Hurricane Chapter of the SUP is entering a new era. Beginning this month The newsletter will only be mailed to those who do not have the internet. Those who do will be sent an E-mail by David Hinton letting them know when the newsletter has been posted to the internet. It is very important that, if you want to be kept up to date on the happenings and programs we are having, that you get on line to see.
It has been suggested that some of you have a hard time using the internet. If you can not access our website, please call David Hinton at 635-4201, and I will either help you over the phone, or come by your home and help you find it. I will also make it very accessible to you so it doesn’t take any time to find it. Please let me do that for you. I have helped two or three already, and they were surprised at how easy it has been. Again, the chapter website address is:
